UXR Artifacts from Prototype Testing
Project Type
Prototype User Testing
Date
April 2023
Qualitative UX Research results and video are very persuasive, evocative, and confidence building internally. Repeated small tests show which issues really matter and which issues rarely matter. It's like a beta launch without the costs of development. In this example, I and my team led a cross-departmental workshop to design a Find & Book Doctor user-flow and mobile prototype. The UX Research of our prototype showed how frustrated people get when asked to Create an Account before being able to do anything on app (an early requirement this research changed), and how our Appointment Confirmation moment and Payment Confirmation moment could be more clear.
Needing a Continue as Guest link is of course already a famous UXR best practice, but, since my stakeholder's vendor didn't support it, I used the UXR to show how many customers we would lose sticking with that booking vendor. Sometimes even when you already know the answer, UXR is a great way to get stakeholder buy-in by showing them how impactful certain choices can be.
